Painting my Walkbehind

I'm currently working on painting my 52' Walkbehind. I bought this off a large commercial company for $600 bucks (Steal!!) a month ago. The only part I am painting is the deck, it's got some scuffs and starting to rust in spots. I took a paint chip, cleaned it up, and took it to lowes. They were able to match it to about 95% and he pint was only 13 bucks! Scag wants 20 for a little spray can! I have currently cleaned the belt cover, front arms, and casters with brake kleen and sanded it down and wire brushed the rust. If anyone has any other suggestions on how I should do this please let me know. I will update with pics as I go along.

Here is a pic before I started

Are you going to use an HVLP sprayer and are you going to prime?

Make sure you clean all the contaminants off of the deck before you prime/paint.

I'm priming with Rustoleum spray can primer. And yes I'm using a air sprayer.
The CRC Brakleen does a really good job of getting the grease and gunk off.
I will be sure to take a bunch of pics!

Also forgot to mention that I had to straighten out the belt cover with a torch and a mallet, and tack weld that support piece that was sticking up.

I paint mine ever other year.
1. I remove everything.
2. I remove decals.
3. I spray it with a degreaser when use a pressure washer several times.
4. Sometimes I use primer sometimes I don't.
5. I've used spray guns and paint cans and to be honest, the spray cans work the best. I use IH red on my mowers instead of Ferris red. It's cheaper.
6 I install new decals and reinstall everything after cleaning it all and doing any touch up painting then.

And now the important part. It's a lawnmowers, what ever you do after a month you won't be able to tell it.
