Kodie,

Learn your pest (weeds, fungi, etc.) Learn your products (go to a John Deere Landscapes or other fert company in your area. Contact the Alabama Dept. of Ag. http://agi.alabama.gov/pesticide_man...makePrintable;

Take the test. Receive certification. Learn as you go. Charge accordingly.
Or sub the service out to another company and add your markup to cover your time.

Library, internet, your local ag website and office. The study materials for your license would be a good start.

Kodie, Unless you are in extreme north Al or have a shady and irrigated property... you are treating Bermuda or zoysia, further south you may encounter centipede or st Augustine. When you apply to take the state test they will send you (for a fee) the study materials for this. It has a lot of good info. Auburn University publishes some as well. Understand though you must pass the state test for OTPS and it also includes knowing your common pest as well. It is a lot of info but they do provide ( for a fee) most of what you need.
