painting gutters

don't know if this is the right place to post, but here goes... a client of mine has aluminium rain gutters, which have serious rust stains on them from the rusting leaf guards placed over the gutters. I tried scrubbing, and pressure washing, but didn't make a bit of difference. My client has agreed that painting the gutters and removing the rusty gutter guards may be the best idea.
Suggestions on what type of paint to use for this? I really don't know what would work best. Thanks!

Brush on a high gloss paint. To spray will require a lot of time with all the masking and may take multiple coats.

Making it more expensive then just putting on new gutters. And the end result will not look as good when they were new.

Advise the customer about the outcome before you begin to prevent her from complaining when you are done.

Are they just rust stains or actual rust. If they are just rust stains I use la's totally awesome which I buy at family dollar for 3 dollars a half gallon. I use at full strength and have not found anything that will clean gutters and aluminum better.
