We run enclosed trailers because the last thing I want to do is to waste time loading and unloading. A lot of money wasted in a weeks time when you pay employees to load and unload.

Plus its a rolling billboard and shop. I don't have one but plan on getting one soon.

I use enclosed but it all depends on what fits your personal needs. For me, it helps having an enclosed because I can also use it as storage rather than putting everything in my shed or garage plus you don't have to unload everything every night.

Where's the trailerless option?

I can see how an enclosed can be a benefit in a lot of situations. For me I don't think I will ever own one.

If one is doing small residential lawns it feels like it would be quite a bit less efficient. Having to go in and out of the trailer instead of grabbing trimmers off of an open trailer seems like a waste of time. Enclosed trailer are also harder to park and drive. Open trailers have a 4 foot gate where an enclosed would be 7 feet. Enclosed trailers weigh more. Enclosed trailers cost more. For me, the only one of these CONS that really matter the most is efficiency. Losing 1 minute per lawn when you're doing 30/day is a big problem.

I used to think I wanted to move to enclosed because of not having to unload every day. Then I remembered we have to unload to service equipment anyway so that saves no time. So now I have one less reason but o still plan to move to an enclosed when my budget allows.

Open trailers are so much more versatile than an enclosed.

Allows mowers to stay cooler during the day to keep them running longer.
You can haul tractors, skids, loaders, etc if you get strong enough one.
Haul mulch, stone etc.
Haul trees and brush to the dump sites and unload from all four sides.

I understand the appeal of an enclosed trailer but they are just sooooooooo expensive and I just feel like they aren't worth the $$$ ...

I tried a enclosed 7x14 seemed like I was dragging around an big anchor, and could not fit every thing I needed, 6x16 fits my needs better, I always keep anything not in use locked up, and keep a close eye just in case. I did like the big bill board ideal, it was really hot all the time even when cloudy. to each there own its just another tool to use.

I actually don't have trailers yet; I'm not even driving yet and I won't need to for a while anyways because the couple neighborhoods I do service keep me busy with more than enough work. Ten minutes ago I would have said enclosed, both hands down, but now I've gotta say open. Thanks for all the insight guys!
