Exclamation Impact of all that SALT!!!!

I have seen threads thus far this early season about snow mold and vole damage of turf. Winter injury and frost cracks to trees & shrubs. And general animal damage (deer, rabbits, etc) to landscapes.

What about the heavy damage (kill-back) from the excessive use of Road Salts this winter? Especially along main roads, and commercial parking lots. I am already seeing CHUNKS of undissolved salt in lawns, along with dead evergreen shrubs right next to parking lots, roads and sidewalks.

What solutions are you guys using? I'm hearing various solutions, ranging from, heavy irrigation to leach the salt out of the soil. Use of gypsum to neutralize the salt. And stripping/removal & replacement of the salt laden topsoil.

Anyone????
