OH yeah I have certainly seen the quaility drop. My guy flys through lawns like I have never seen. He does not miss spots but the mower can't even give the grass a good cut.

Does anyone here buy from Southwest Landscapes in Coppell. If so, how do you like their service and plant quality?

I used to use them several years ago, but at least at that time, if you werent a large company, they acted like you were bothering them. But they have an awesome selection and I was wondering if they have gotten better.

We haven't used them in several years. I always liked the plants thay offered, but we only used them when we were doing lots of work in Flower Mound.

regarding Southwest Landscape.. I understand the 'attitude' you encountered but I have been using them for several years and have found their staff to be outstanding and plants the same.. I have used them on large projects as far away as west texas and they have assisted in design work as they have more plant knowledge than I ... and many times I get only a few bags of mulch, with no problem.. they simple don't want people off the street buying...

speaking of nursery's.. has anyone used the Home Depot Landscape shops that have been set up in the area?? I understand they offer a year warranty?? and how is their pricing??

I tried using the Home Depot for mulch once. They just opened a new Landscape store about 3 miles from my home. The prices seem to be identicle to the regular Home Depot.

I've been using the Earth brand mulch at Lowe's. It comes in Tan, Black & Red. The Tan looks the best in my opinion.

Wish they sold the Earth brand at HD. The new HD Landscape store in Lewisville is a lot closer for me. I tried doing one job with the Cypress mulch, but I don't like it as well as the Earth brand. To purchase a similar quality mulch at HD is about 50% more than what I pay for Earth brand at Lowe's.

Thanks Buena Vista, its been a long time since I went there, I was hoping maybe they changed. They cant be beat for selection in the out of the ordinary. I usually use JD landscapes in Lewisville, but their selection can be limited.

Meier, if you like the cypress, have you tried the cedar from Living Earth? I buy in bulk from them, good prices compared to bags, and I really like the quality.

Like to expand my lawn business to include Fertilizing & Weed Control. A few questions for the more experienced.

What kind of certification do you need in Texas? How much does it cost?

Does the state or city regulate Lawn Service companies?

Where do you get Liability Insurance? How much do you need? What's it cost?
