Has anyone else noticed this about lead gen sites?

So personally, I have no problem paying for leads. If I know I can get 1 out of 5 at $10 a piece, that's $50 to acquire a customer (plus drive time to get those estimates). However, it's been my experience that the customers getting leads are the "shoppers". Many of them are downright stingy and I feel like they always go with the lowest bidder, regardless of that competitor's quality / reputation. Has anyone else experienced this?

For our area, yes, your correct. I live over the bridge in MD.

I noticed the same. These price shoppers take the lowest bidder, or realize the price of the job and pass. It happens A LOT in this area.

Are you getting these leads from sites like thumbtack? I have trouble believing many of the lead generation sites because anyone can submit a lead, regardless if they are actually looking for a service done or not.

I get them from thumbtack. I jsut dont like the idea of paying with a buncch of other companies and the customer picks thw lowest bids. sometimes they dont even look at the bids and I get my money back. Its time consuming to keep posting and paying for leads that have done nothing for me. Its also easy for someone to request a quote, then realize they can't afford it, and are never to be heard from again.

This area is pretty bad...one came through yesterday and within 15 minutes they had 3 quotes already.

Last month I had ok results with thumbtack last year. I only reply to landscaping. I don't bother with mowing

This year has been absolutely horrible I stopped bothering. Wait until all the new "companies" are gone when it gets hot out.

Pressure washing has been horrible this year.

I'm ordering postcards tomorrow

I agree. The start of last year was decent, then it turned bad. I'm not even bothering this year. They did, however, help out my SEO

PM me, that flyer company I told you about bailed out. I have another who started, they do good work, 10,000 door to door for $1,300

Flyer company? So do they put them on the doors, mailboxes? I'm definitely interested considering EDDM costs 16.8 cents per piece.

I've sold leads in the past, but never acquired them.

Just out of interest can anyone recommend some established lead gen sites?

... It'll be interesting to experiment.

Yeah.

It's not that much cheaper but people say they get better responses.
