So who targets TruGreen and Senske application tagged properties for marketing?

As the title says it's almost too easy. Your success with this...?

Do you have a way of knowing what properties they have besides driving around looking for lawn flags?

So how are you finding them? I have them in my area but how are you just targeting those accounts?

Besides spending the time writing down addresses, I don't know how you would target their tagged properties.

Just seems better to spend time on my biz then worry about what others have.

Then again, you could offer a special discount to T Green and Senske customers--(in your flyers or mailers). Not sure how that would help you; sure to generate some anger in your competitors office.

Cool

These accounts are all around my current accounts.

Most all my current application accounts are in fact former TG/Senske treated lawns. Most of the application Co. have already made contact with clients. I haven't. My retention rate is high and my clients know I will resurface shortly.

Last year TG sent out one of their best pressure sales techs to try to get back one of their former accounts [my current client]. This property is worth $1,000+ a year for lawn aps olnly. TG sales tech even asked my client, "what don't you like about your current lawn guy?". She said not a thing.

The (3) largest Ap Co. in my area have already sent out mailers or dropped off some sort of marketing material.

Their first round of applications that promote run off and typically benefit the weeds more than the lawn...will go out shortly. Lots of dry fert left on walks and driveways.

I believe what I have to offer is a much better service unless the lawn is really weedy [spot spray only for now] and the client is expecting me to spray trees and shrubs.

Thanks for the idea. I will ponder this.... Not sure if I want to mention them by name. I think what I'm offering for 2014 is an exceptional value.

The clients I clearly don't want are the one who insist on mowing short and watering at the wrong times of day etc.

When the title says "tagged" properties I figure he meant flagged.

A mailer saying "offering personalized/custom applications taylored to your property" would be another way to single the larger guys out as not being a one size fits all app.

About 20 years ago, our local TruGreen had a crappy branch manager. He paid fifty cents per address (competitors' lawn flags). This never panned out, so they quit doing it. That manager was demoted & transferred.

I have never, and never will "target" any competitor. I wasn't raised this way (Iowa farm parents). my 2 cents
