Anyone use a dump trailer as their lawn maintenance trailer?

I've seen a specialty trailer with a dump bed on the front, but who uses a dump trailer as their main lawn maintenance trailer? Weigh in on the pros and cons. I am looking at a Bri-Mar low bed with "landscape" gate which doubles as a ramp and an aggregate leveler.

Seems like you get the worst side of an open trailer and the worst side of an enclosed all in one to me.

Everything still sits out in the open, they're a good bit heavier, and cost a good bit more. I can't see why it would be worth it, with equipment taking up all the space you do have for material...

I've seen it done, but I don't see a benefit to it; unless you can only afford one trailer and need to haul a lot of bulk material.

A guy near me has one. It's a 12 ft dump with a gate on the back. Not sure how it works, but it looks silly.

I have, kind of. I can.

BriMar

Valid points on both sides.

They do make some very impressive single axle dump trailers that I could see working for someone who is very small and has a small truck 1500 or less and has very limited space at his home so he can't have dedicated single purpose trailers. Bri mar makes a 5x8 with 5000 gvw and cam superline has a 5x8 with 6000 gvw. Both could fit a smaller ztr and both offer pay loads of around 2 tons which is much more than most smaller trucks can haul. So for that guy I could see doing this. I would only use ours if one of our landscape trailers was out of service for bearings of a broken axle and we needed something to fill in till it was fixed.

I saw one the other day. It looked like a 6x14 or so. It was a brimar but only had barn doors on it. I'm guessing the guy uses the equipment ramps to load/unload equipment but thats gotta get old quick.

We've never used the ramps on ours, we had a full gate built that we can dump out the bottom or run equipment up.
