Worth $1000.00 ???

I was chatting with the owner of the building next door to my new shop about cutting the grass. He was telling me to just spray around this truck untill he can sell it. He said it runs great just don't use any more and they bought a larger truck for delivery.

Truck is an 87' has 40k original miles on it. Overall good shape. Diesel engine with standard tranny. He offered to me for $1k. Was thinking about getting it and setting it up to pull a trailer for hauling a Skidsteer or my tractor. Even haul sandbags on it.

What y'all think?

170 hp for a truck that large?

My 3208 is at 215 and at times it seems it is very underpowered.

If you can use it, for 1k pretty sweet deal. Only 40k miles is really good for the age of it.

That's definitely not a lot to gamble with, scrap value can't be much less than that. but plan on either rebuilding the motor or scrapping the truck any day. Those international dt motors are good but they like rebuilds often. when they get older or especially when they sit they go. The liners or o rings I think, they wear and dump the water into the motor. Mine did it, a guy I know-his did it. And a billion others, if you look around online. 6k for top end.

I figure the bed is worth $1k. Thought about cutting the bed to make a shorter bed. Paint the bed royal blue and put my sandbag company logos on the doors.

I'm with you on the bed being worth $1000 at the minimum. If you got it running good, it would make a good implement truck to carry tools and attachments.

About a year. He said they come out and start it once a week.
