Scag deck release lever

Just got my Cheetah back from service and the deck release lever won't catch to make the deck stay up in its highest postion. Can anyone offer any insight with how to adjust because I dont want to take it back to the dealer.

Is there crud built up in the slide area? Or crud on the deck top so it hits stops before the lever catches?

Clean as a whistle. It worked before I dropped the mower off, was cleaned from the end of last season, and not used to cut yet this year. Went to raise the deck for transport and the lever didnt catch.

Its a foot pedal and it should lock in the highest position when you push the pedal, the lever is to unlock it from the transport position

Well then without seeing it it's hard to say. It's a very simple set up so just look at it and figure It out.

Thats what I thought, simple. Seems like the deck is not raising high enough to have the rod catch. I woll sleep on it, never adjusted one before, so I was looking for some suggestions. Thanks for your help

Did the dealer do any deck adjustments??
When raised up, if the deck hits the up stops before the up lock is reached, then it won't lock in the up position.

They claimed they didn't adjust the deck. When I raise the deck, the spindle covers hit the frame, preventing the deck from locking. In order to get it to lock, I adjusted the deck rod, but the cut height is off 3/4". I am taking it to them on Monday and they can figure out what happened since the mower is still under warranty. They had to do something to it. The service manager says they have a lot of young kids as yard jockeys. When I picked up the mower the first time there were marks on the lefts side plastic like they side swiped something

I'm interested to know your results. I just bought a 2008 Wildcat and I noticed the cut height is off by a 1/2 inch. I tried adjusting the cut height rod but you can't really go up because the deck stops won't let it lock in the transport position which is probably your problem. I don't know how to bring my cut height up 1/2 inch to match the numbers on the machine.
