Hustler 251K model number 924274

I just bought a 1994 Hustler 251k, I notice when I press the left lever to go forward, it sometimes makes the machine jump like crazy, is I press it gradually is not too bad. I am thinking it might be that the pressure is not equal on both sides, or maybe an adjustment needs to be made on the levers. Anyone experience this problem? Any help would be appreciate it. Also as I mentioned I am new to this machine, any one know if you can just put any type of hydrolic fluid on it or is it a specific type? Thanks

In 2012 I retired a 1993 260K. You may still be able to find an operators manual at the hustlerturf website. If I recall, the hydraulic drive oil is 10W-40 engine oil.
