Which motor for old Scag?

Hello. I am looking for some advice on an old scag I acquired. The info plate is all but gone but I believe the model is SWZ14-KA. The pull-start kohler command that it came with has been robbed of parts so I need to replace it.

I have 2 engines I could use (I think) and am not sure which would be best for power AND ease of swapping. The first is a Kawi FB460, 12hp electric start and the 2nd is a Kawi FC290V, 9hp pull-start. Both are from Deere riding mowers.

If I use the bigger one, I will need too add a spot for the battery and other associated components. Either way, I need a good amount of parts. Please share your thoughts - thanks!

First thing you should do is remove that boat anchor and measure the crankshaft compared to the FB460, The 290 is too small for that application......

If this machine has manual PTO (can't tell from pic) I have a simple/basic wire diagram for electric start.....

The kohler is off and I know the fb460 shaft is the same, not 100% on the 9hp but it souns like it's too small anyways. It does have a manual PTO. I would love any help you could give - my email is grasswerk@gmail.com. Any idea what year-ish is may be from?

Thank you!

Ok, I test fit the motor and it's *looks* like it will work. Do you have any suggestions for a muffler? The one it came with is a no-go.
