Sulky Suspension

I have a 36" bobcat with a velkie brand single wheel sulky. I have been getting quite the knee pounding going over lawns, not helping my back too much either. I was wondering if anyone had an idea on how to retrofit some suspension onto it.

I could either do like the kage one and put some mountain bike suspension parts and make lots of cuts and engineering, or I could put a plate down and a bent piece of spring steel underneath in each foot well. It would be a v shape underneath absorbing some bumps. Do you think this will work? I'm open to suggestions.

I have three observations.

One OMG really? how old are you 60? I rode velkes for years, it seriously isn't that bad…would you rather walk??

Jim Velke was in his 40s when he invented Velke wheels…If it irritated creaky bones and backs he wouldn't have made it.

Have you thought about taking some air, just a bit out of the tire?

and it would just be way easier to get a Kage, if that's what you really want.
By the time you actually made something that worked/lasted… I bet you would spend more money in materials than it costs to buy a Kage and not to mention the amount of time, or the fact you might completely ruin the velke you have now, and then have no velke.

Buy the Kage, Craiglist the functional Velke ….you could probably get $75-$100 for it, which will make buying the Kage that much cheaper.
