Thanks Ganny, it'll be a few months before the new line comes out, but check out the Infiniti Series LED spot lights in the meantime.

Are some of those "new offerings" made of solid bronze, I hope?

Hey Steve.... nice to see you have surfaced! We were wondering what had happened, and where you had moved to.

I am looking forward to seeing what Volt is coming out with, and will welcome those cUL (cETL is WAY better to work with IMO ) listings on the product line. I do hope you will have some sway with Alan and get all that open pricing off of the website though! Going for the DIYer biz is fine and all, but you won't see many pro's beating a path to your door if you keep that strategy up. Just sayin....

Light On!

That may be true about pros, but DIYers need open and transparent pricing and changing that model would come at a cost of lost DIY business. As a DIYer I think their open pricing model is excellent and should remain unchanged!

A manufacturer like Volt has to decide if they are going to be a retail channel or a vendor to the 'trades'. It really doesn't work to try and have it both ways. By publishing their prices online, and not offering trade pros any significant cost savings below those published prices they are, by default, dictating what we as pros can charge for our installed products and services. I don't know of very many pros who are willing to allow their vendors to do this. Perhaps there is enough volume in the retail/DIY market to satisfy Volt's sales needs, and if so that is great for them, but I am pretty sure that the professional/trade market is a much greater piece of the pie.

C'mon James, how many of your clientele are searching online for fixtures?
Volt is certainly not hurting your business. Also, I think you may see Volt having an entirely different product line for contractors at some point in time.

Hi James,

Good to hear from you again. As you know, I have always been firmly on the side of supporting pros and their success. I have also always been on the side of uplifting the industry as a whole and wanting all landscape lighting projects to succeed (even when installed by determined DIY'ers). In my opinion, these goals are not mutually exclusive. It's called "raising all boats" - everyone wins.

Later this year, you will see something new from VOLT that may disprove your assertion that a manufacturer can't "have it both ways".
