I have enough confidents in my work to not worry about it.. And it wouldn't look good if someone saw you take something off someone's property without permission..

This happened to me a few times, and both times the homeowner came out to chat with me. I simply grabbed the flyer and told him he got a lawn care flyer from some guy up the road and if he wanted it? Both times they said ''no''. If you're standing face to face with a loyal customer, he's not going to want to accept that flyer right in front of you.

And if I get a flyer on my door at home, I also call them and have them come out for an estimate, so I know what they're charging.

Lol, they feel really silly and embarrased when they come over to give the estimate and they see my rig parked in my driveway.

This happened to me a few yrs ago. My wife told them to come out for an estimate (chemlawn). The guy gave me a free soil analysis & price, then she told them we are a lawn company too-thanks for the estimate.
Now I have free information on their pricing structure. I will also do this with customers lawns if they are gettting rid of chemlawn. They tell me the price for the new year & I say thank you! It helps me keep a mental note on competitors pricing-if they'll give you the info for free, use it.

Respect the guy for trying to drum up new business. If I'm doing my job and not overcharging I don't have anything to worry about.

Nice to see some sensible responses. This came up in another thread last year or so and many people said they'd take it and throw it away.
I says it's none of my business. It belongs to the customer now and whatever they decide to do with it is up to them.

stick to your morals

there have been plenty of times where i would see another lawn care companys advertisment on someone's door. I'd put mine on there as well, and then would drive to another neiborhood where i wouldn't see any advertisments on the door. Do only qoality advertisments, that you would exspect to pick up out of a bundle. Make it stick out and mabe your calls would increase, but I also do most of my business through word of mouth.
