Lets Build A Tree Spade

Happy spring to you all.
I have some nice larger trees to dig this spring, and I need to get this tree spade built fast.
I need one to dig a 36" root ball.
Most of the steel I have in stock.
Anyone ever use a spade on there skid steer
I have bult one before, but not as big as this one.

Thanks for moving the post over.
Ok so Im back in the shop, and I got some welding done.
I have a homemade press that I will use for the blades.
I drilled through a solid 2" round bar to make the pin bushings.
Then I turned a old track pin down to fit the bushings .
Also drilled the bushings for a greese fitting.
This is where the gate will open to hug the tree.

Looking good! I've never used one, but I own a tree service and a CTL. haha

How's the spade coming?

Its coming along good, worked on it all day today
I will be digging trees by the week end.
I will get some more pictures up tomorrow,

I dug 4 trees last year and I used my pallet forks I slide them together and shoved them in the ground all way around. Then I lifted it out It work slick

Wasn't big trees about 8ft tall pine trees

I have done it like that too LOL I then also attached a steel plate on the forks, and that worked too for the small trees.

Could have bought a used caretree 36" spade for 1,500-1,800

Yes as I was doing it I though about Spade mounted to forks

Tell you popping out shrubs forks works pretty slick to

Hey all, Im still working on the spade.
Getting all the hydraullics worked out, and bent the plates for the blades.
I also got the skid steer mount fabed up and ready.

I need this tree spade for next week.
