Balancing work life and home life

So how do you guys do it? Especially in he busy summer months.

I've got a 7 month old and he is our first.

My wife loves to travel so our weeks are flip flopped. She's home all day while I'm at work and I like to be home on the weekends relaxing when she wants to go.

How do you work summer vacations with work and a family?

I have tried to explain to my wife to be patient and as I grow hopefully I can keep a dependable guy who can run the routes for a few days. I have gotten a good crew who can handle most mowing duties while I keep the fertilization/weed control in check.

After never taking time off in the summer we are approaching my second straight vacation due to begging!! Hahah. 10 days out of state and it might kill me not being here to,check in on things.

Time away during the work season...? Not going to happen if you are solo, or small operator.

Clearly, you and your wife are not on the same page with regard to the business. That is the first order of business.

It is not easy to accomplish. I am really trying to work less but still spend LOTS of hours at work. I have reliable crews that can go without me but things definitely suffer to a degree when I am not driving around checking on jobs and dealing with customers.

"Home life." I LOL'd

I put burgers on the grill for dinner at 9pm tonight.
I told her to eat if she didn't want to wait for me, but...

Oh yeah, what's a "vacation"? Is that sort of like when it rains all day?

If you can afford it, and have good people in place to run then business, then go for it. Life is way too short to work it away. Some of the peoples lives are shorter than others. Who knows, your life may be cut off early. Better enjoy it while you can

Once you have "kids" THE PARTY IS OVER!

Where are you going to go with a 7 month old baby anyway?
