Spyker spreader complaint

The "rate dial" on the front. It's held on by cheap plastic clips. Eventually these plastic clips snap off (break), so all of a sudden you're putting out tons of fertilizer, and there's no way to predict when this will happen. Photo shows this white, round, plastic "dial" in front of the spreader.

These things "break off" on both our Spyker push spreaders as well as our stand-on spreader/sprayers. This is a huge flaw IMO. Can easily cause turf burn due to excess fertilizer. We now carry a spare in each truck.

Anybody else have this issue?

Ouch. That sucks. I think you should replace the clips with heavy zip ties, or really, with stainless steel bolts. Drill holes as needed.
They are guaranteed, right? Defect in materials or workmanship?

Not sure if there's enough room to drill small holes & insert SS bolts.

Definitely a defect on Spyker's end. And we're lucky if they answer the phone.

I have called them in the past weeks and they answer the phone every time.

Spyker is now owned by Brinly Hardy.

I have wrapped a tie wrap around the plastic to the stainless part after one of the clips broke. Works great and has lasted for 3 years that way.

Thanks Mike. You started yet, or are you still dealing with snow?

Still some snow in areas and frost not out of the ground. I hope to start in about 10 days but not sure. I am willing to bet that Trugreen is out this week.
