one less thing to worry about

Last week my iPhone screen took
a crap, unresponsive to touch, couldn't open from home screen etc, etc.
Took the phone to be taken a look at and apparently the humidity from our Sw Florida weather had caused the screen to go bad, going to be many bucks to repair. I had an upgrade due, so went to the local AT&T to consider their offerings, customer service rep listened to my tale of woe and pointed me in the direction of the new Samsung S5 active, was very apprehensive as it operated on the android platform and I was a die hard apple guy.
Any way long story short this phone is shock resistant, dust proof, and the best part is submergeable in 3 feet of water for a period of 30 mins.
Yes there was a learning curve for the operating system, but I now have that down pat.
Just being able to wash dirt ,debris and sand off under a running tap, not having to make a run to throw the phone in the truck as the heavens open, and not worying about passing the phone to the customer as I am showing them photos of plants in case they drop it is worth it alone.
May be trivial but it really is one less thing to worry about.

I had my I phone in my pocket listening to music through head phones while mowing, all of a sudden the music stopped. The phone fell out of my pocket and under my ZTR and shot out the discharge shoot across the field. I thought for sure it would be dead but when I picked it up only the back plate was off, the phone case (otterbox) was completely vaporized.

The phone still works fine but I do plan on going with another brand other than I phone next time. The phone that you picked up seems like a good one for this industry, bigger screen, and I am sure more app options. I think I phone used to be the best but now they have plenty of competition.

I went from iPhone to Andriod back to iphone.

The "customization" of Andriod is over rated. Apps crashing sucked.

That being said I might get thes5 active next month to replaces a windows phone. tHAT is a pos lol

I need to look into the S5 Active for my next phone, just for a better upgrade.

Right now we are on Verizon and I use the Casio Commando. Little heavy, and past operating system, but I love the durability of it.

In the grass, I ran it over with my truck, didn't even phase it. That and it's held up to all the salt I deal with in the winter. I also seem to drop it all the time on the pavement, and no breakage at all.

Hopefully the S5 is as durable as the commando. If not, might switch to sprint for the better plan and get the Kyocera Torque.

Don't know wether the s5 active can be truly classed as a fully rugged phone but it is certainly more robust than most smart phones out there.
I keep it holstered in a 5" Maxpedition pouch on my belt and it is paired to My lg tone bt headset. Couldn't be happier with the set up
