did someone put the wrong fuel in it? What brand and mix ratio are you using?
You may get by with a new jug, piston and rings for about 150.00
Probably better off buying a new one and using it for parts.

Before you go getting all excited and go out and buy a new trimmer check a couple of things first. See if the trimmer head will rotate. It may have blown up the clutch. Also remove the recoil starter and see if that's locked up. You can also remove the muffler and see if there is a chunk of carbon stuck in the exhaust port. There may be something caught between the coil (magneto) and the flywheel. Look things over before you spend the big bucks. Unless you have run straight gas in it it shouldn't lock up even if it's real old.

It's been a long time. Have you fixed it?

I would like to know what you found out.

On lock-up due to use of no oil you can remove plug and put in oil. Then take the shaft/head off so you can rotate the crank shaft. About 50% of the time you can get units to rotate. Rotate is slowing for awhile and put shaft back on and fill gas tank with a fuel misture that has about 4 times the normal oil mixture. Start it up and run it under light load for a few hours. I had luck with echo units doing this. Then run the unit with sea foam gasadditive for a few months.
