Idea for Next Year on Clean Ups
Sent out reminders for my costumers about clean ups this year early, January time frame. As you can see I am in the panhandle of Florida, not up to my tail end in snow. Got no replies until a couple of weeks ago. All of a sudden it has become an emergency for many of them with the first real nice days of spring. Next year I believe when I send out the same letters, I will put in a line that all clean ups started before February 15 will be 25 dollars an hour and after that date will be 35 dollars an hour. Before the yearly contract crew chimes in, I am firmly entrenched in the middle class market and any mention of a year around contract and you will be shown to the door. Also unfortunately this is average or above pricing for this area. Hope this will allow me to spend more time next year marketing my services at this crucial time of year than running from job to job trying to make everyone happy. Think this might work?
Thanks Rhett |

Why lose money? Just add cleanups into your contracts. Just state a time frame in which they will be completed.

Why not try a reminder such as "Cleanups start on February XX. Call Early! First call, first scheduled!"
The idea that they will have to wait if they don't schedule early may scare them into gettin it started. This way you don't have to discount a service due to customers' inaction. Just a thought........

Navig8r- Has that ever actually worked for you? It NEVER works for me... I dont know if I am just stuck with a group of customers thats as bad at procrastinating as I am or what, but I can never get them to call before 2-3 days of really nice weather, even to confirm that I will be their landscaper this year.
Rhett- I think you have a good idea, but I don't know about that much of a difference... I would put the later dates on the high side of price, and the lower dates just at the average price, if that makes sense.
