What's the fastest 22" SP trim mower?

The reason that I ask this is because 80-85% of all my work is done with type of mower in the mulching mode (small residentials w/ tight gates, etc.) I just bought the Toro Personal Pace and am extremely satisfied w/it's travel speed, though I have not actually cut w/ it yet I hear that it gives very good mulch results. I was just wondering if there is a faster one than the Toro that will give good mulching results at top travel speed or is the Personal Pace as fast as it gets?

Thanks,

BAMARED

You wont find many high quality 22" mower...they're ususallly of the home depot/sears variety. However, 21" mowers are plentiful

I use a John Deere JX85. Probably one of hte best 21's out there. Extremely beefy construction, commercial transaxle(different than other JD's), steel height adjusters, steel wheels with rubber tires, not plastic. Kawi engine with oil filter.

eXmark and Toro both make commercial mowers, but I had the toro version once and I hated the bagging setup, at least the one that came off the side of the deck with the plastic housing. The deere setup is great, one handed bag removal. I've ditched all my other deere equipment, but their push mowers are time tested and true.

Brieldo,

What's the travel speed of the John Deere JX85? Cost? And the big question: How does it mulch?

Thanks,

It does about 4.2 MPH, which is about as fast as you'd wanna walk behind it. It mulches very well...I dont use it much for that application. It isnt cheap...probably one of more expensive 21's out there. I think mine was around 850 or so. It's the best push mower I've found.

Steel Deck Protector
Steel Wheels
Rubber tires which blow anything else on a mower away
5 speed transaxle
Oversized Handlebars
A transaxle that is stronger than anything else I've experienced. JD completely redid the transaxle for the JX85. Pull a JX75 backwards and then pull a JX85 backwards. You'll feel the difference.

I think that's about it. Ask more quetsions if you have them.

Ben

Check out the Toro. It has the best mulch system I have seen and they are fast and strong. I used to sell them and just loved the darn things. Also, liked the Lawn Boy mowers. Same company actually but try the Toro.

Good luck finding a jx85, they don't make them anymore. And on top of that I'd rather have a toro w/ the Suzuk.

Quick 21"

Toro Proline, BBC, 2 cycle, 3 speed transmission..
No longer manufactured you might be able to find a leftover for about $900.

My Ariens with the Robin engine and 3 speed trans. goes pretty fast I haven't clocked it but the speeds seam like

1st = very slow
2nd = fast walk
3rd = run like he**

The gears don't seem to be spaced very well and I think they stopped using this transmission and went to a variable speed like the snapper.

I don't know how fast they are
I have run some snapper 21's that were hard to keep up with walking. But a lot depends on belt tension and newness of the friction drive on that system.

So I'm not really much help to you
