FS85 10 pulls to start. Redmax 7001 5pulls

And both units are brand new. Does anyone else have this problem? I'm going to take the FS85 back to the dealer and see if theres any kind of adjustment that can be made. The thing will spit and sputter the first few pulls. When it finally is running smoothly I've pulled on it 10 times.

The Redmax 7001 blower I bought from Capt Devo and will try to contact a local dealer. Does 5 pulls sound excessive? I read several of you who start on the first or second pull. I've never had that happen.

Redmax 7000... choke it, half throtle, 1 pull... sputter. Choke off, pull... starts right up.

I've never owned a 2 cycle engine that will start w/ one pull on a cold engine.

just like hoagie said never had a 2 stroke thats started on the first pull. 5-10 doesn`t sound bad maybe ur priming the stihl too long and flooding it?

Are you using synthetic 2-cycle oil?

It's made a big improvement starting my Stihl equipment.
About 3 pulls cold, 1 when warm.

I started my JD edger after the winter on 1 pull. This is an exception I understand. I would still not recommend this edger to anyone, for the record.

For the stihl have found 1 pump full choke and pull 5 times. If it starts close the choke slowly. Once it is warm should start with 2 or 3 pulls. This will be my last stihl product.

Stihls have just always been known to be tempermental in the starting, anyways. Like someone else said though, the Echos fire right up all the time. It has always been this way.

Redmax EB 7000

I start mine everytime everyday with full choke - throttle at idle on the first pull (sometimes requires two)
My redmax trimmers are a little different but usualy will start in 2 or 3.

I found that there is an exact pattern that i have to follow when starting each of my two trimmers and my blower.

for example: if i apply throttle to the blower along with the choke it will not start on first pull, but at idle it will. (no priming)

My newer model redmax trimmer is choke with no gas first pull, then half choke and it starts on second - both with no gas, if i apply throttle then it messes everything up. (no priming)
I have an older trimmer that requires full choke and full throtle on first pull then no choke and full throttle for second pull.

- Who knows, all this could be in my head but it seems to work almost every time.

Stihl FS80R - 3-4 pulls cold (1-2 warm)
Echo 2400 - same as Stihl
Kawasaki KRB400A blower- 2 pulls cold

They might do a tad better if they were all on their own proper mixture but I run them all on the same mix (50:1, soon to be changed to 40:1). I have Echo hedge trimmer and Stihl chainsaw both start within 4 pulls cold, usually 3. I'm betting it's operator error more than anything, or maybe just the climate. If it's a real cold day less than 40 degrees mine take another pull or so. Sometimes the carburetors just need adjusted or your mixture may be alittle too thick.
Good luck with them.
