"Do you mow?"

‘Nope. I just drive around, shift some gears, and make personal appearances here and there.’

Most of the time I just stare straight-faced at those people. Until they say something else brilliant. LOL

Reminds me of that scene from the movie Dumb and Dumber;

Harry, "Are those your skis?"

Beth, "Yup."

Harry, after considering her answer, "Both of them?"

Yes, I've had the same question asked of me many times.

The most favorite place is the local gas station. Since last September, I've picked up three good new customers, while filling my gas cans and w/b on the trailer. "Do you mow grass?" only starts the conversation, but it has resulted in some good accounts. Filling my gas cans at the service station has proved to be good advertising! But, I don't have any more room in my schedule.

No, I don't have a sign on my truck or trailer, no, I don't have uniforms, and no, I don't have holes in my pants. I just am a plain old guy (62) who wears Dickie pants and shirts.

Redbull

Isnt that jeff foxworthy?

...speaking of redbull. I was going to get on at the local speedway the other day for the first time. The guy said 1.99 please!!! I said holy cow, for that price this stuff should give you wings and point you toward the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. He laughed the whole time i was returning it to the cooler and getting a soda.

My one and only time

My first summer in this business this lady pulls her van up next to me as I am cleaning out a large flower bed wiht my equipment on my trailer not 25 ft away.

She rolls down her window and says "Do you do yards?!"

I'm sweating bullets in the N. Florida sun, waving off mosquitoes, got dirt and debri all over me, have a couple of blood lines from some wicked smilack vines and I say (with a big smile) "Why Yes! What would you like?"

It went down hill from there. She was asking for her elderly neighbor. Something then and there said "RUN!". Had to find out the hard way.

Cordially,
S.

I wish a few more would stop me and ask that dumb question. I could use the extra business.

I have had a few people that stop in the road while i'm mowing, to ask me about prices etc.....and they just start yelling out of their car window while the mower is on and my headphones are on. what the F? I have a customer that will walk out of the house and start talking while he's walking towards me. again, mower on and headphones on. by the time i stop, slide the idle down, turn it off and hop off the mower, he is done with his 3 minute gab session. because of his moronicness (is that a word?) he has to repeat himself. i just dont' get some people. COMMON SENSE
