I just purchased a 270 for $420.00. The first time I used it was on a residential account. I thought this is a very good trimer. Starts on the first pull and makes quick work of the grass next to the fence. ...........Then I did a farm site I take care of. I haven't trimmed this place all year. Some of the weeds are four feet high and the thistles are an inch thick at there base well this 270 is not just a good trimmer. It is one heck of a bush-hog!!!!!! It is nothing less than awesome. I don't even want to use my DC any more this thing is too much fun..

I just went and purchased a Shindiawa EB240 blower instead of the trimmer. The two trimmers I was looking at were the 230x and the 270. Both were nice the 270 was a little heaver than I thought it would be, but I will purchase it later this year. The 230 is nice and the weight I am currently used to now. With the 230x you are able to connect several blades to it without any other parts. I am very satisfied with them both.

It depends how you use the trimmer. I use mine for no more than tow hours straight then most of my jobs are done.
I use a Stihl F250. It is heavy but is a real animal.
Good luck!

YOU CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG!

Shindiawa VS Stihl

Shindiawa: A straight metal shaft running from engine to weed head.
Warranty: Lifetime. Straight Power. No vibratio.

Stihl: A series of twisted steel wires between engine to weed head.
Warranty: 90 Days. Less Power. they wear out, having to pull trigger up to re-gain all power to keep in use. Vibrates alot.

Paradise Landscapes-Stihl F250

The Stihl F250 is a 40.2 cm3, 2.2 bhp, direct drive trimmer. It come with a standard two year warranty.
Shindiawa makes an excellent trimmer. This is just a matter of taste.
My experience with a short duration applications, (2-3 hours max) is that you use the maximum bhp . Weight should not be a factor for this short period of time.
Stihl F250 is perfect for my orchard.
