Mulch prices
Im trying to find out what a good price is to put down mulch is say i can get a bag for say 2.00 and some one wants 80 bags worth shall i up the rate per bag and charge labor do only one of the above help me out lol, ive gotten some advice just wanted to get some more thx

Bags? We don't need no stinkin' bags! Buy it in bulk my friend and save yourself some headaches. I pay $17 a yard bulk. Could get it cheaper if I had a place to store a whole truckload.

I bought a crapload of mulch 2 weeks ago here in East TN. It cost me $12/scoop(yard) at one of the local nurseries. That week it happened to be on sale, as it is normally $15/scoop(yard). Do just like Polecat said if you can and buy it in bulk. It does save you a ton of $$. Best of luck.

The fact that you have a small trailer is irrelevant. You won't fit anymore in bags than you will getting it in bulk. you might have to make an extra trip depending on how much you need. 80 bags would run you $160 IF you can actually get them for $2 like you said. Same amount in bulk is probably about 3 yards. At $15-20 per yard, you come out way ahead. Get it in bulk and charge between $60-80 delivered and installed depending on how far you have to wheel it, how many shrubs are in the way, etc.

Well i figured i would charge 170 dollars for 40 bags of mulch that cost me 80 dollars my profit would be 90 bucks,now i am reading thinking i overcharged ( i already put bid in ..any replies?

I'm not sure. I just assumed it was a yard. The tractor they use at this nursery is a bigger JD with a front-end loader. I'm not sure what model JD it is, but i believe it had an open cab with a roof. I'll ask them if it is a full yard next time i'm up there, and i'll let you know. 2 scoops from the tractor filled up 80% of a 6x12 trailer and 2 scoops will completely fill up a short-bed full-size pickup. It will be piled a good 2 feet above the bed rails. Maybe this will help you guys figure out if this is a true yard i'm getting.
