oil comsumption in new kohler

I have a new dixie chopper with a 20 hp kohler engine. It has about 20 hours on it and I have noticed that it seems to be using oil. I estimate 1/4 of a quart. Is this normal? If so how much oil loss would be considered a problem. Thanks.

Normal is ZERO, you however might blow a puff of smoke at start up, and that is normal too.
