Needed: Measuring Wheel Recommendation

Loaned my measuring wheel out to a friend and then got stolen. He is going to pay for the cost (a cheapo from Home Depot), but thought I would upgrade. I was really looking into one that had a digital counter that would also calculate the square footage. I found a couple through Gemplers, but was wondering if anyone out there had any recommendations for something that I am looking for?

Thanks
MATT

I bought a "cheapo" one for like around $55.00. Wish I would have spent more money though for the larger wheel.

I got my wheel at Lesco for around $50. It's simple but very sturdy. You would probable have to drive over it to bend it.

The Rolatape 400 is a really nice measuring wheel, I have one. It costs around $130-$140.

For about twice that price you could get a GPS with true area calculation. It'll follow stuff like contoured mulch beds and give accurate square footage of the area. Or lineal feet or whatever you want.

I have two excellent measuring wheels that followed me home when I left the engineering department of GTE. Since I got the Garmin GPS they just sit in the garage.

Dave- Please elaborate on how that GPS works? I know it works off at least 3 satellites to determine exact location but how does it work for the way you use it?
What model? Is it hard to use? Does it give square footage or? How does it work on round or odd shaped areas?

I need a measuring device also and i want to get something that is easy to use and something that might let me just walk to the next reference point without a wheel.
