I have a 99 F350 with the powerstroke diesel. I have a 16' tandem axle bumper pull for residential and small commercial jobs. For the big industrial jobs I pull a 36' tandem dual gooseneck.
Jay

I use a 1997 Ford F-350 4x4 Dump Truck with a Powerstroke diesel, auto trans, and 4.10 gears to pull a 6x18 10,000lb. custom made equipment trailer. Nothing beats a Powerstroke for economy and durability.

Economy leader and durability leader, what do you have to back your claim? You must be going downhill a lot (LOL),because I bet my truck that I can go farther on a gallon of fuel in my 96 Cummins, and it will outlast your PSD a couple of times over.I think the PSD is a good motor, dont get me wrong, but its not in the same league as Cummins. These are problem areas:Cavitation, turbo's going out, bolts falling out of turbo's,leaky valve covers, glow plugs(real diesels dont have these)injectors$$$at 3000 a set,and too high EGT's from too small an intercooler. If you think yours is more durable,I'd like to show you some million mile 5.9's that run as good as new.A PSD could never go that far,its not designed to.
----------
John D
John D.,
I have not had any of these problems with my PSD. Like your Dodge, Ford's warranty also covers the diesel engines for 100,000 miles.
P.S.
I'll see you in my rearview mirror when the time comes to go up a hill pulling close to 16,000 lbs. GCW

I just bought an 88 IVECO 14' box truck. It's diesel 4 cylinder, runs like a champ, and best of all I have a 14'x10' rolling advertisement. Basically, I am going to make it into one of those Superlawn Trucks. Any of you guys out there know who I should get to put up the racks and things like on the superlawntruck? I am not going to do it myself, that's out of the question.
Later,
----------
Integrated Landscape Solutions
Lexington, KY

Mattingly,
Looks like we are neighbors. I live in Versailles and do most of my work there. Are you strictly landscape or do you mow too? We could be competitors also. I'm running an add in the Herald next week. I work in a factory too, but in the next couple of years I would like to be able to go full time lawn service.
Brook Haynes
Quality Lawn Care

Mike,my truck is putting 635ft/lbs of torque and 250HP+ to the wheels,You have no chance of seeing me in your mirror,I eat PSD's for lunch, stock, you are right id lose, but 300 bucks later you dont have prayer, and without an intercooler(big$$$)You are very limited as to gains. The only reason the cummins isnt fast stock is so it wont rip itself out the LD pickup frame with abusive driving, simply putting in the torque plate out of a higher HP application from Marine or MD truck will make it blow away the PSD.I'm glad yours is trouble free,My dodge has been better than most give credit for too.
----------
John D
