Insurance company recommendations?

I am having a hard time finding a reasonably priced insurance policy for my solo-business.

I am only looking for 100-200k to start - no need to spend time telling me about why I should consider more.

Can anybody help with some suggestions?

Don't mind Hodge he's trying to be cute, like when listing his location. Notice there was no info offered.

A-1, you didn't say how much your unreasonable is, maybe it's the norm.
Check with company that has your homeowners insurance, if you're an owner.
Insurance varies greatly, by geographic local, how long you've been in business, and number of claims.
It's sometimes difficult to get insured the first time with a company that doesn't already have an interest in you.

Do some searches on this site in this subject. There were some threads on this and some recommended companies, maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago.

Hodge who?

RG - It's not the rates that are necessarily unreasonable. I have found only 1 company that will write me a small policy/ for like 150k. The others want to sell me 500k-1m minimum - maybe when I am actually making good money!

Hey A-1, I'm in the Houston area and have been quoted from 875.00 to 1200.00 per year, for 1 mil. general liability with a 3 mil. aggregate. I don't do residential, just large commercial.

1 mil minimum is required to do commercial work (at least all of my accounts). I went to the yellow pages and looked for Independent Insurance agents. Around here they have their own little section in the yellow pages. Call all of them and consider moving your vehicle insurance over also, they may give a break to have the extra business.

One thing I found out is that they will NOT insure tractors at a reasonable rate. All that quoted my tractors required a $5,000.00 deductible, and NO theft coverage . I asked "what does it cover?........Fire, flood, and accident while on the trailer ?!?!?!?!"

Good luck
