i dont understand? who could be listening, that i could care less about? i made it very clear to the company, that , by not having any kind of a training program, and having employees who are both incompetent, and uncooperative, is a lose lose situation. they have constantly repeated , "you are responsible for these people." however, i dont have the athority to hire, fire, or repromand, and the company wont back me in any way when an employee is uncooperative. hell, ive even been assualted by a cooworker, right in front of a supervisor, and it was completetly overlooked. so, i dont get your last post, "u never know who is watching".

Maybe ask for the nice gentle lay-off to qualify for unemployment comp... A little cushion to expand your biz.

I know someone who did it. He knew they couldn't fire him and they knew he didn't want to out right quit due to family, but he and the owners also knew it wasn't working out so they agreed to do a layoff and meet the requirements of it...

Be careful of COBRA costs.

I was ask to leave a major corp. in Jan.03. I got a nice severance package and the COBRA to cover the ins.

For the first 12 month monthly payment was the same as when I was employed, $133.00/month for family. This is a great price for very good coverage ins.

Starting the 13th month the cost would go to, glad I was sitting, $1200.00 per month, but I could keep the coverage for 6 more month, don't think so.

I hope this may help someone keep from going down that path.

Hey Tomt, from my one time experience with Cobra I paid my usual insurance rate plus what the company was paying for their part of the insurance. Sounds like you got a good deal for 12 months.
I was paying $700 month in between contract programming assignments when I normally pay about $250 a month (medical/dental) for family when working.

Luckly I was out of work only for 2 months.

Health insurance (and ALL insurance) is insane!

1,200/mo is $14,400 in a year!!!!!

Go one year without a accident and you pretty much can be self-insured. Until you hit a major medical of $50,000 + And why in the hel does ANY medical accident cost more than $50,000 (cheap).... Heart surgery is enough is to wipe you out. I think I'd rather die than pay that much money to the medical machine!

It is all terribly wrong!
