I just got my new Lazer Z HP and I am considering buying a mulching kit for it. It is fall now as I am sure you all are aware of and I would like to chop up some leaves with it. I would like as much feedback as possible on this piece, like how it performs, how much you paid and specificaly how it does with leaves and are you happy with it?

Thank you all for your responce.
Tyler

The mulching kit on an exmark is second to none. The customer will not know if it was bagged or not. Cuts leaves well also. I mainly bought the exmark because of the mulching capabilities. I already had a metro with kit and fell in LOVE with the quality of the cut.

I purchased the mulching kit for my Lazer Z last year. I must say that it performs excellent. I mainly use mine for leaves and it will chop them into dust. The only thing I don't like about it is that its kind of a pain to put on, but once you learn how its not to bad. I would say go for it!

If you have an Exmark, you have to go with the Micro Mulch kit. I used it all summer and have customers who would not let me go back to discharging. Used it on heavy leaves yesterday for the first time and was amazed. No sign of leaves at all after only one pass. Looked bagged. Would never have believed it.

How does it do on the wet, heavy new growth in the spring? I'm in the Pacific NorthWest and need to mow in the rain.

Mr. Ziffel,

I have a Lazer Z, 52" deck, 18 hp kohler. I have found the mulching kit will cause clumping in the rain. It works nice in dry conditions however. For mowing in wet conditions I like discharging and double blades(no clumping). I'm thinking about putting my mulching kit back on, but might not due to our cutting season is about over here in Spokane.

Can someone please tell me how long it takes to install and uninstall the mulch kit on a Lazer?(60") Also, what is the price of these for a 60" deck? Thanks!

Runner,

It's pretty easy to install the kit and easy to remove also. If you look under your deck you'll notice some factory drilled holes in the existing baffles. These holes are what the mulching kit attaches to. The kit comes with the baffles you need to fully enclose each blade, plus a block off plate for your dicharge chute. And it also has the mulching blades.

It should take you no longer than half an hour to install the kit or remove it.

Off of the top of my head I think I paid around $125 for the kit for my 52". Not sure, but I can check for the exact figure if you like. The 60" kit may be more.

I just put mulching kit on my turf tracer this morning, it was like 43 degrees, brrrrrrr, took a little extra time, but i am very happy with how it mulches leaves. i had finished my first job and cust. came out and told me he wanted leaves bagged this year, wanted it to look like this all leaf season,& charge him extra to bag, I told him this was a mulching kit, he told me to keep doing it till all leaves are gone, whatever it costs. YES!!!!
I will definitely get the mulch kit for my lazer hp.
