crabgrass

I have more crabgrass this year than I ever had before. I used L pre-m. I do see a difference on a few select lawns that I used Dimension on. We have had record rain fall here this year, the boys at L say that is why. 2 years ago they blamed it on the drought. I used Team-Pro last year & was happy with the control. The boys lured me back over to Pre-m this year. The particle size was big this year, some times it appeared I was spreading gravel!!! Anyone else see excessive crabgrass?

Amen to that. Even some Dimension lawns are breaking down.

The worst.... along with many other types of weeds. 4 weed aps so far this year. This is one year when we would have been just as well off to have done 3 Pre-M aps instead of any other ferts.

We are doing nothing for it now. Not going to intentionaly cause discoloring (browning) now with still some summer left. If was going to react on the crabgrass that should have been a month ago. But then again reason above.

We are going to be proactive next year with preventative treatments.

Lawns that I used Dimension on are fairing pretty well. Lawns that I used Team-Pro on are having more breakthru's than I'd like to see. I have been doing some post emergent spraying w/ PBI Gordon's Trimec Plus. All the rain we have had this year has prematurely washed out the preemergent barrier. If I had a dependable crystal ball, I would have done split preemergent apps. on all my props.

PJ

I am going to do more than 1 preventer app. next year.

Crabgrass is an annual weed. Most have already seeded. What ever I do now at this time is useless for next year.

I don't have a major problem. Yes it is worse than I have had in the past. It is nothing major. I still have the greater majority that are still crabgrass free.
