I have a 78 3/4 chevy and the damper seems to be making lots of noise. I am not sure if it is out of balance or what? It makes like a "swishing" noise, everytime it does a full circle? Is there any type of adjustment I should be looking at? Cleaning it or having it machined? Come to think of it... maybe that is why my front seal is leaking (I'll leave that one for the next message). Any body out there have this problem it is really a noticable noise once you hear it you can recognize it.

if its doing anything its not supposed to, replace it if its a sb400 or 454, then you can really have some problems with it spinning on itself..(counterweighted) but if its a regular internally balanced motor (ie NOT a sb400 or 454) then your timing marks will be off, and theres always the possibility of the outer ring coming off and doing who knows what to anything thats in its way. As for the noise, dont know.. but I seriously suggest you get it replaced asap.

might as well do that front seal while you are at it
