I have gotting so many calls in the past few days ,more than I have ever had in my 6 years, out of 25 -30 estamite for landscaping jobs I landed about 5 .lots of price shoppers,if people would stop the low ball pricing and realize people are starting to come out of their shells and actully spending money again this industry can get the good money again.

There are always tons of price shoppers in the spring. These people have been thinking about projects all winter and are ready to go. The thing is they have time to shop now because they cannot get it installed tomorrow so the call every landscaper in town for quotes. This is also the time of year where every two man and his truck landscaper is hungry to bid because he cannot work yet. This causes our closing ratio to go down in the spring. Thankfully out presentation is great and designs are unique so we still get our fair share. In two months people will not have time to shop there job to 10 landscapers and even if they did most will not call the potential customer back because they are busy installing the spring sold jobs they under bid

Amen Paul, but our maintenance side of things are getting bid so cheap that its not even worth doing anymore. I've lost so much work this year that I'm half of where I was last year.

I refuse to bid so cheap to break even just to keep the guys working.

I had a site that I've been doing since 2002 for the same price for all these years and some one just took this Commerical property from me for half.

This was the email I got after 11 seasons with this large Commerical property.

Justin, after reviewing proposals for lawn maintenance this year we have chosen to use another company. The quality of your work in the past was not an issue however we will realize a significant dollar savings in comparison to your rate

I lost about a days worth of cutting this year ,I really like the install side better then maintenance but the maintenance is a steady cash flow all season long .trying to schedule landscape jobs with full grass route is hard maybe lossing some grass will actully make me more cash lol

We usually run 8 guys mowing between 3 crews. Every year we lose 5-8% and then we fill them in with new. We don't do any condo's managed by management company's and have moving away from people who rebid every year. It drives me crazy when every year people bid out there property's when we have serviced then very well for 5-8 years. It's like they just have to bid it out because its that time of year. One of our past clients would bid there chain of locations out every season and if some no name company could save them 10 cents they would drop u in a heart beat
