I weed beds and charge hourly. If they want a price up front I usually always add an extra hour to how long I think that it will take.

So if it only takes you 3 1/2 hours but you told them 4 hours you still charge them for the 4 hours. It was their fault that they didn't go with hourly rate instead.

Yeah that windy day we had the other day was killing us. We had to stay far far away from the concreat areas. The clean up guy was having a fit... But as long as we were working in grassy areas we were fine. Still a pain in the but when you are blowing the mulch downn and teh dust keeps getting in you eyes. Wow that was a long day.

As far as teh weeding thing tiedman is right on. When we did landscaping, we acctualy would pass on that type of job. We billed hourly for that type of work however. We would give them an estimate on how much time we planned on and said it could fluctuate + or - 1.5 hours. but normaly we would only do weeding if we were doing a new mulch install and they wanted the beds cleaned up. So we would normaly just weed whip the weeds and spred some prean. Pluse we would put down some of that usless landscape fabric. Just to appease the customer and make them feel more at ease. That is just how we used to work it on that type of job.

Tell me about it!!! We got going at our first job around 6:30 this morning and it was freeeezzzzzing. We had to take shifts jumping in the cab and out to warm up!!!! Thin it started snowing and along with the snow came the wind. And of course we were on a job that did not have any grassy areas so we were stuck int the parking lot islands with and the wind had us in its grasp. Mulch was all over the parking lot it was a great day for the clean up guys!!!!! Although it did look sweet, as we were laying it down the steam was rising off the mulch in the beds and coming out of the hose. nice and warm for the guy blowing the mulch in.
