Name change

Has anyone here changed their business name? If so, how did you go about it? Did it cause any problems?

When I started my business I used my own name. It's kind of long so I started abbreviating it but Ikeep thinking about changing it completely. Maybe to something that makes you think of landscaping.

Don't change your business name until you decide to incorporate.

Right now it's LLC. I was wondering if I have to go through all that again or could I register another name under the current one? I have no clue at the moment .

Sorry, I assumed you were sole prop....you would have to do it all over again with incorporation with your state. You would also have to start a new bank account, insurance policies as well as any licenses that you hold as it would be a new legal entity.

You may be able to simply file a DBA for your LLC. That would allow you to present your business to the public with your chosen name, but still maintain your current name when dealing with vendors, creditors and bank. Check with your state assessments office or your attorney. They should be able to advise you better. If you can take this approach, be sure to update your LLC's operating agreement to reflect the change in operations. Good luck.
