credit cards - help

have a large commercial account that wants to pay us immediately upon completion, but wants to use their credit card (they are a fortune 500 company so its not a scam...)

i like the fact that we dont have to wait for a 30 or 45 day billing cycle.... but

the only way we get the account is if we do this - so my question is - is there a cheap, easy way to do this or is it a pain to do...

thanks

i would suggest that you open a paypal account. that way, they will be able to pay you via a credit card transaction, you are protected and you will always have records.

try these paysites for best results.

i use my merchant account through Quickbooks Pro. Quick easy and a good selling point as well. 12.95 per month +%. A cheap and easy way to get paid immediately.

Talk to your bank. Many banks offer credit card services. You do not even have to have a machine to swipe the card. Not expensive either.

I would agree to check with your bank, or use paypal.

One shot deal? I'm sure your bank can do something for you (even at a nominal fee)...

Paypal has per-transaction limits (especially for new account holders) and the bank would have to be willing to open an account with Paypal ,which is something I find most people or business who are unfamiliar with them are willing to do.

Just imagine if you were going to hire a heating and air contractor to install an A/C unit for your house. And just before he started he said, "Oh, you want to use a credit card? Well, um. Ok. But I use MoneyMakers.com for that. You'll have to go online and sign up for their service, create a bank account with them, give them your personal and banking information, and THEN I can take your credit card." I don't know about you - but I can see where a lot of people would have apprehensions about it. And it's been my direct experience that this is exactly how people who are unfamiliar with paypal feel. I used to try to push Paypal too. I love paypal. But it just isn't mainstream yet. And it isn't nearly as quick and easy as just giving someone your credit card number.

If you want to look professional, you should have your own merchant account. If you have good credit, go to the place where you bank and open a merchant credit card account. They should be able to have it set up for you within a few days and then you can get paid and receive the money from the transaction within a day or two of the time they pay.

If you have less than perfect credit, then just email me. I know another place to go that doesn't cost an arm and a leg and still allows people with bruised credit to have merchant accounts.

Either way, you need to open up your own merchant account for stuff like this. It's just the most professional way to do it.
