Buying names an addresses

I called aprinting company for a price on direct mailing people who earn $75000 or more and are within a ten mile radius of me. They gave me a qoute for 3600 post cards would cost $327. To mail them would be another $250 plus $.18 cents each. I seems kind of high to me what do you guys think. How successful could this approach be? They also told me that i could purchase the list of names and adresses for $350. I sure wouid apreciate your responces . Thank you all for your help.

I hit 17,000 homes in my 2 zips for $1200, full flyer inserts on bright yellow paper in our very popular local community paper. That includes the cost to produce the flyers, insert costs, and 1 month of a 2x4" display ad. Very good deal since the whole paper itself reaches about 60,000+ people I think.

Think it's possible to get only a .5%-1% response rate? I'd like that. Of course I'm advertising by other means as well.

Time is money. Can you imagine how long it would take to print 3500 address labels, apply them to the postcards, and take them to the post office to mail? That is assuming this company can give them to you in a file that can easily convert to a mailing label. By my calc's you have $1207 in charges. If you get a 1% response and a 75% closing rate on those (26 acccounts) you would basically be sacrificing 2 yearly contracts to pay for your mailing. I would consider that to be a pretty successful proposition. Meeting my postcard mailer on Thursday to get started!

The company I am using is charging .20 cents postage for each unit. If I was to order the labels for the postcards thats $40, then another $100 for shipping the postcards here and then another $150 for the postage difference I would pay (.03 X 5000)...that's an extra cost of $290 for me to take 7 or 8 hours of labeling and putting postage on them. I save $290 and never touch a thing...does that answer you question Dan the mowing man?

You can always do that. You will probably want to get a postal bulk rate permit. If you are considering this, contact your local post master and they can give you the specific prices for what you want to do. You will also have to get instructions on how to sort the mail.

Royalslover,

if you wouldn't mind, could you elaborate on this? were the 5ooo pieces ads mailed by themselves to homeowners? or were they one of the valu-pack type things where your ad was mixed in with others?

tia...
