Inventory Policys

I was just curious if any of you guy have any inventory policys set into place. things like:

- how much gas you keep with when your out mowing,
-how often you fill your gas tanks,
-how much do you keep in mixed tanks for your trimmer and blower,
-how often you change the oil.
-how often do you sharpen your blades.
-how much trimmer line to buy do you buy in bulk.
-do you guys carry extra supplies with you.

I know these all depend on how much you mow, but if you guys could tell me how much you use and how much you mow etc. That would be great.

Thanks,

I used microsoft access for all my inventory. Mostly I just keep track of landscaping supplies.

- I try to keep the mowers full and a few extra gallons with me at all times
- I fill gas tanks as needed (depends on the account)
- I keep 1 gallon of the Echo 2 cycle mix (for all my small engines)
- Changing the oil depends on usage and the particular machine
keep an eye on it and you will learn to change it every x amount of hours
- I sharpen my blades every 8 - 10 hours... this really makes a difference
- I buy the trimmer line in an "average sized" packages as needed
- I keep spare trimmer line, belts, basic tools, oil, gas with me at all times

Like you already acknowledged it all depends on how much work you do a week. This was my formula last year, but things are looking better for me this year!

each of our mowing crew trucks has 2-5 gallon cans of gas and one 2.5 gal. mix can.

we fill them every night, it's policy. we found that filling in the morning took more time because crewmen wanted to get their coffee and snacks, etc. but in the evening, all anyone wants to do is get home, so they don't waste time at the pumps.

we change the oil on the trucks every 3 thousand, on the mowers, once a month.

sharpen the blades when the stock runs low, but we change them every morning.

buy the big spool of trimmer string.

carry all the supplies we can to help out in common breakdowns. most important supply is the cell phone.
