hardwood mulch and boxwoods

they do not go well together, right? have i heard correctly that pine bark mulch is an acceptable alternative?

i use hardwood mulch around boxwoods all the time and they have never had a problem before.

I've never known it to be a problem to use hardwood bark mulch around boxwoods. I've probably planted several thousand that way and the only problems I've ever had were not related to mulch....

The only potential problem I can think of is possible fungus from the mulch. If you're treating the boxwoods it shouldn't be a problem. Contrary to a homeowners opinion, they are not low maintenence and can live hundreds of years if properly taken care of.
