15hp Kolher

I bought a 15hp kolher for my 36" exmark walk behind. Dealer did'nt sell Kaw. I had problems with the Kaw, so i decided to use the 15 Kolher (bad choice) This Kolher after three months is wore out and using oil, you can smell oil.
I took it back to the dealer and he said the filter system is not that good and it was getting dust in the motor.
Question: If Kolher is having problems with this model why do they sell them. The dealer said kolher will not stand behind the warranty. $800.00 down the drain on this kolher
Whos fault is it ours or kolher
I stop buying anything else from this dealer.
I guess i have to go back to a Kaw, maybe it will last more than three months.,

wow, I have a kohler , it seems under powered compared to kawasakis and ticks like a time bomb and has about 50 hours on it. Im not sure what the warranty is but it seems it should be more than 90 days
To my dad, Thanx Pops you are my dad, my brother , and my best friend

I have several walkbehinds that have 15hp kohlers on them. They seem to be fine so far besides the fact that they are a loud engine and are underpowered compared to my Hondas. I agree though, it seems like your warranty should be more then 90 days, I'm pretty sure mine is a year.

I think I would be going to kohler's web site and sending a e-mail to them to check on the warranty. If they have a problem with the air filters, they will stand behind the warranty.

I have 2 small backhoes and a chipper all with kolhers on them (1 comand, the others magumns) and the air filters do a good job on them (the bhoes especially operate in dusty condictions). The hoes have about 1500 hrs on them and only 1 is the engine showing a little age (smokes on startup only). I'd hit Kolher up and see what they will do for you.

I would contact Kohler directly If I were you though.. explain to them the situation... Are you using the correct air and oil filters ??? right quantitiy of oil ?? Is the oil being changed regularly ??? Make sure your ducks are in a row and its not your fault that dirt is getting into the engine, maybe the air filter is not on right or its' the wrong one ??? Kohler is a good company and I think if its their fault and there is a problem with the motor than they will take care of it. BUt It sound s to me like something else may be the issue. I would really check the engine out myself and make sure the above things are correct before I send it back to Kohler to find out you put the air filter in upside down or something like that...Let us know how you make out..

The Kohlers do have a two year warranty. No matter if used for commercial or home owner use.
