How late in the year can I sod?

Ive read that with KBG & FESCUES that I could sod as long as the ground wasnt froze, had a guy call today thats closing on a new house within a week and wanting to sod the yard, Seems like you would want to atleast 3-4 weeks before first freeze or would it be that long before the first frost?

Im in central IL, Id suspect a frost within a couple to three weeks but you never know around here...

Not sure how long you have but I have heard of laying it down into November.

This stuff is the best!

Ive been told that as long as the sod aint froze while trying to cut or lay it ok to go ahead, It just seems that the cold before a good root system is established would kill it out. From what I understand it will just remain dormant untill spring when it begins to grow again.

thanks for the link, a little far for travel but may be usefull for things I can order.
