What do I need?

This is a question for all the seasoned pros. What kind of training or education has anyone had for landscaping ? I have been interested in the lawn care/landscape bussiness for some time but really don't know how to get started. Do I need hands on, schooling or home study for landscape design?
Thanks for any info. Jeff

I learned mostly by hands on from another maintenance/landscaper. I try to get in some courses in winter to keep up on things but for the most part, it has been live and learn. I was really lucky to have and excellent boss before I went on my own.
