fountain pump

I bought a fountain pump 130 gallon pump for my small bird bath. Recently i turned it on and it was working fine, Then about 10 minutes the water starts evaporating and then theres no water. The water does splash for about 1 minute then it works back to normal for 9 minutes and then no water to pump. I adjusted the level to lower flow and then to high flow ,but still having this problem.
