Inappropiate Links In Profile?

I keep getting porn links in my profile and I delete them and a new one appears. I am not doing this. How do I get them to go away. Does someone have my password or what? Who do I need to contact to get this taken care of?

You might have a hacker on your machine stealing passwords and so on. Might want to run some computer clean-up software, like McAfee or Norton.

Are you running anti-virus software?

Also possible that you may have happened to an adult site and spyware was installed on your machine.

Spybot and adaware do a nice job for free.

I notice that this has happened infrequently here before. When I get a new user notice, I have seen in the past an adult site listed like the one you had in yours. I always remove it. Maybe Pierre can shed more light on why this happens. (I know the new user is not to blame for this.)

We have the latest security patches set up for the forum software and server, and this seems to affect only a few users so the problem is probably on their side. My guess would be a key logger of some sort that would allow the virus creator to know what you type - including passwords in an unencrypted form - or network sniffers that would log the data you submit to the Net. There might also be a virus done specifically to edit vBulletin profiles, but these are only hypothesis.

In any case, please install an up-to-date virus scanner (see http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php for a good, free one) to remove any virus there might be on your computer, and if the problem persists, let us know by replying to this thread.
