Help with Ford F150 1991 V8 4wD

I have been haveing problems with my truck not running at top shape. These are the symptoms:

At idle it missfires every second or two. this is not consistant some times it will be fine.

At high rpms it looses power. more misfires!!

when the car is not running the engine is hot it takes a while to start. the Starter runs but the engine doesnt fire. i step on gas then it goes.

I tested the wires. fine
i tested the compression good. 135 every cylinder

I just dont know where to go from here.

it might be timing chain or fuel pressor regulator.

What are more tests that i can to to find out what it would be?

I'm not mechanically astute enough to address your truck's problems, but let me give you a heads-up on an F-150 weakness. My 94 F-150 4WD has had the transmission rebuilt twice by AAMCO, to the tune of about $3000.00 each time, roughly $6000.00 total. It turns out that the transmissions in F-150,s in a certain range of years, and my 94 falls in those years, have weak transmissions: something to do with the pumps not being big enough. I found out about this first on this forum, then had it confirmed by AAMCO. Something I wished I'd known before I'd bought the truck. Now I have so much money invested in it that it's married to me. Good luck with your truck, I hope it's something minor. Tony
