Lawnmower fire...

The breather gasket on my zero turn blew out and started pumping oil out on the muffler and everywhere else. Smoke started billowing out and then it started burning. Luckily I was not far from my truck where I have a fire extinguisher. I was lucky. I do alot of work where I am a long distance from the truck. I will be putting fire extinguishers on all the mowers from now on and would suggest you guys think about it as well. This mower is less than a year old to. In this case all turned out well as there was no damage other than the gasket and a couple of new quarts of Mobil oil that got pumped out. In the end it was actually funny. My daughter (who works with me) didn't think dear old dad could run that fast!!

Take care,

That happened to a friend of mine while he was on his lazer. He looked over his shoulder to see what his employee was screaming about. All he saw was smoke. He had blown a gasket and his motor was on fire. He jumped a fence, grabbed a bucket by the pool, filled it up and hit the fire from inside the fence. He was lucky he was 5 feet from the pool's fence. The next day, he bought a bunch of mini extinguishers and mounted them to each machine.

TOday I was mowing and stopped for a break to get some water. I noticed there was a lot of clippings on the deck and i was getting them off and I was surprised how much heat comes off the spindels and belts, I have been lucky the grass didnt catch on fire
