Yes there is a reason for this. Pierre probably could answer this better than me as I'm not sure of the correct terminology. There are google bots or whatever they are called that harvest e-mail addresses. It's best not to post your addy here. Make contact thru the private message system, then if the two parties are interested and serious, then you may privately exchange addys.

Jodi is almost correct. There are bots (not google bots, Google does not spam ) that browse the web and automatically parse e-mail addresses to add them to spam mailing lists. For that reason, it is recommended not to display your e-mail address publicly on the web, or at least not to write it in a machine-readable format (i.e. plain text), or you may end up receiving more spam than what you used to.
